Evergreen Infrastructure was invited to consult on this roof garden following multiple unsuccessful attempts to maintain its original installation. Our objective was to reimagine the space and address the numerous issues identified through our comprehensive site assessment. A new planting strategy was introduced to transform the garden into a biodiversity hotspot, encouraging the movement of insects and pollinators from ground level up through Levels 2, 4, and 10. The beehives installed on Level 10 are now thriving, thanks to the connectivity and planting diversity established across the building’s multiple green spaces.
About the project
Levels 2 and 4 of the Jaques Apartments have been reimagined as vibrant biodiversity hotspots, where native species thrive alongside a carefully selected palette of exotics that add colour and seasonal interest. Existing eucalypts were removed to preserve the roof structure's integrity and replaced with more suitable tree species that offer both shade and visual appeal.
Impact
The gardens have become a popular passive space for residents, offering a tranquil setting for relaxation, reading, and leisurely movement throughout the landscaped rooftop areas.
