Evergreen Infrastructure worked alongside our client to design and install a stunning green wall that would provide multiple benefits for the home owner and utilise a verticle space in the landscape. As a lover of plants the client wanted to extend her garden and hide a neighbouring wall with plants. The wall also needed to be as environmentally frinedly as possible and in this case we designed in a water trough to recycle water for irrigation, grow additional plants and house fish that would feed nutrient rich water back to the plants.

Form

The tight constraints of the small courtyard garden meant there was limited ground space for our client to extend her garden. With a large wall at the rear of the proporty we were able to design in a framing system that bwould support a green wall, provide additional plants to her landscape and hide the neighbouring wall. The location and aspect of this wall provided some challenges with plant selection.

About the project

This wall is exposed to strong winds, direct sun in summer and dapled light in winter which all proved challenging when selecting plants that would thrive all year round in the green wall. The garden has evolved to become a beutiful exmaple of how plants change through the sesasons while providing a dense garden to look out onto

Impact

The view from the house out onto this wall has provided the client with a stunning wall of greenery to look out onto and admire. To sit out on the deck end enjoy the cool environment the wall provides has become a huge bonus for the the occupants of this garden space

Quote from Designer

"Designing this space provided numerous challenges from plant selection to ongoing health of the wall. Our team of horticulturists are experts in plant knowledge and were able to come up with a palette of plants that continue to thrive. The use of a water reservoir at the base filled with fish ensured that nutrient rich water would be delivered to the wall every irrigation cycle."
