Form

The iconic Treasury Building at the top end of the City of Melbourne is now home to a 700m² rooftop garden, bringing biodiversity back into our built environment. One section of the garden tests and showcases the most suitable plants for rooftop landscapes, while the other demonstrates how design and nature-based solutions seamlessly integrate to enhance and beautify our grey urban spaces.

About the project

This extensive roof garden has been retrofitted onto the 1960's iconic landmark in Melbourne to highlight the importance of urban greening and increasing biodiversity in our cities. These green roofs will act as an education source for industry and the public while providing a living example of how to successfully green our built environment.

Impact

The green roof offers numerous environmental benefits, including improved air quality and enhanced biodiversity. By incorporating a variety of plant species, the green roof supports local wildlife and contributes to the overall health of the urban ecosystem.
